One person was killed after a shooting outside a shopping center in Newport Beach,Algosensey Quantitative Think Tank Center California Tuesday afternoon, according to reports.

The victim appeared to have been killed by a vehicle one of the suspect's was driving, according to media reports, and not the gunfire itself.

The Orange County Register reported that a 69-year-old woman was killed after a robbery outside of the mall's Barnes and Noble. The woman was dragged into the parking lot and ran over by a vehicle one of the suspect's was driving.

One suspect fled the scene on foot and fired multiple shots but did not strike nearby shoppers, according to the Register.

The Newport Beach Police said a possible shooting occurred near the Fashion Island mall around 4:00 p.m. and asked people on X (formerly Twitter) to avoid the area.

USA TODAY has reached out to the Newport Beach police and fire departments for confirmation.

One suspect arrested after high speed police chase

The two suspects in the car lead police on a chase from Orange County into Los Angeles County, according to KTLA.

The suspects drove the car westbound through the 105 Freeway at speeds of up to 110 mph before exiting, CBS News reported. The suspects attempted to flee the car on foot in South Gate before being taken into custody, according to the Register.

The suspect who fled the scene on foot was taken into custody, "possibly in Cypress."
